Detox Smoothie Recipe

Smoothies are a great way to increase your wellness! Making smoothies at home is an affordable and fun way to get in your fruits and veggies, some added fiber, as well as fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Smoothies provide not only nutrition, but also naturally increases your energy. Making smoothies for you and your family is also a great way to experiment with new ingredients and new flavors. 

What are your favorite fruits? Start with those, then add some greens. Spinach, kale, or any leafy green vegetable is a perfect addition. It’s important to balance the sugar from the fruit with the leafy greens. Then, add some nut butter or hemp seeds for protein - I love cashew or almond! Throw in some flaxseed and chia seeds to aid digestion. 

Smoothies can provide the necessary nutrients we need to fuel our bodies. They can improve your heart health, reduce cholesterol, and promote intestinal health. All of this is happening while you are enjoying a delicious drink that leaves you satisfied!

This is one of my absolute favorite recipes: 

-1 cup raw coconut water (you could use coconut milk or any liquid you enjoy)

-1 medium green apple

-1 small beet

-1 cup frozen strawberries

-1 cup frozen pineapple

-½ avocado

-1 cup baby spinach

-1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

-6 tbsp hemp hearts

-4 tbsp flaxseed meal

-Pinch of cayenne
